Beach recommendations

Binibeca Beach

It’s one of my favorites. If you don’t want to get up early to go to the busiest beaches in Menorca, this option is ideal. It is located in the San Luis area and has crystal clear waters with beautiful white sand. The environment is also very beautiful. I highly recommend it and the advantage is that you have access at any time of the day to differences from other coves.

There is no beach bar on the beach, but in the parking area there is a stand where you can buy water or a soft drink.

There is a hammock service on this beach.

Cala Blanca.

It is also located in the southern area of Menorca. In addition to the sand area, it has a platform area that is ideal for those who want to snorkel and see marine fauna.

This beach has a beach bar where you can have tapas or eat

Son Saura

It is a very long cove with a very special charm and very crystal clear waters. From there you can follow the Camí de Cavalls to Cala Es Talaier. Along the way you will see small coves that will invite you to take a dip.

These beaches do not have a beach bar, so I recommend that you come equipped with water and a snack.

The beaches that I am going to recommend to you now are very crowded so you will have to get up early (around 7am) if you want to access them by car. You also have the option of going by bus if you prefer not to get up so early.

Cala Turqueta

It’s one of my favorites. It is located in the southern area and is about 20 minutes by car from the apartment. It has turquoise waters that invite you to a refreshing swim 😍

It has a beach bar to have a drink in the parking area.

Cala Mitjana and Mitjaneta

It is one of the busiest. From Cala Mitjana you can access Cala Mitjaneta via the Camí de Cavalls or by swimming. It is a charming little cove next door.

Cala Macarella and Macarelleta

The same. From Cala Macarella you can go through an access made of stones and stairs to the Macarelleta cove, which is beautiful.

This cove has a beach bar where you can eat or have a soft drink or fresh beer.

If you like walking, I recommend going along the Camí de Cavalls from Cala Macarella to Cala Turqueta. You have approximately 40 minutes walking but the landscape is very beautiful and upon arrival a refreshing dip awaits you🤩.

The beaches that I am now going to recommend are in the northern part of the island and are totally different from those in the south. They are wilder beaches with a very special charm.

Cala Pregonda

This cove is one of my favorites. It has a parking area and you can go at any time.

It has a beach bar that is located in the parking area, 10-15 minutes walk from the beach, so I recommend that you go with a drink and a snack.

Cala Pilar

Cala del Pilar is a remote beach with impressive red cliffs on both sides and a wide beach of light sand. Enjoy this beautiful virgin corner! 🏖️🌅

Same thing, be prepared because there are no beach bars on the beach.

Beaches with a platform if you don’t like sand

Cala en Brut

Cala en Brut is a small cove located to the west of the island, very close to Ciudadela.

Cala en Forcat

It has a sand area and a platform area. It is also ideal for snorkeling.

La Olla

It is located in the San Luis area. It is a natural platform where you can take a great swim while snorkeling. 100% recommended

Cala 'N Porter

Towns to visit

Es Castell

It is located at the mouth of the port of Mahón.

As a curiosity, I will tell you that it is the first town in Spain that sees the sun rise every day 🤩

It is a coastal town with a lot of charm and at night it is great to go to dinner next to the port.

Binibeca

It is a very picturesque town located in the San Luis area. All its houses are painted white and its streets are very narrow and look like a small labyrinth. You can enjoy having a drink in its small central square.

In this area you will also find platforms to take a dip and at night you can go to Veroni’s pizzeria if you want to enjoy a good pizza.

Mahon

Mahón is the capital of the Island. I invite you to walk through its streets and discover beautiful corners such as the Mercado del Peix, which is located next to the Cloister of Carmen where there is a gastronomic market.

In the port area you can find many restaurants for lunch or dinner. It’s about looking at the selection of cards and choosing the one you like the most. There is everything from Italian to Mediterranean cuisine, burgers and a wide variety to choose from.

Ciutadella

Ciudadela was the capital of the island for many centuries and preserves a very beautiful old town that I recommend. It is very lively and there are small artisan shops with typical products from here, such as esparto grass with which baskets or even small seats are made.

Highlight the port area where you can go to have lobster stew for dinner, which is one of the typical dishes of the island. Café Balear is one of the best-known restaurants. In other restaurants the prices may be more affordable.

At night, in summer, there is a street market where you can find everything from jewelry to pieces of clothing.

Sa Gelatería is a mandatory stop to enjoy an ice cream or a fresh horchata 🥃

Es Mercadal

It is an inland town. There you can go buy ensaimadas, one of the typical products of the Island at the Can Sucrer or Can Pons bakery.

Ensaimadas Díaz – Ciutadella

In this bar that is in an industrial estate they make the best ensaimadas in Menorca. You can also have a sandwich for breakfast if you prefer.

Bar Imperi – Ciutadella

This bar is emblematic and they have llonguets for breakfast, which are rolls filled with Menorcan products such as sobrasada with cheese, which is very delicious.
